There's nothing like a lunch that knocks onto the arvo when you've got some great company. There was some crazy weather on Sunday, but we hunkered on down with boutique beers and some pretty amazing home style food, considering the prices- definitely try the gumbo and the lamb shank. The butter chicken with corn chips looked really fun and I'd bet a million that the chef's Italian because the spaghetti and veal meatballs really hit the spot. If you want a venue to kill some hours with a mate or six, be fed, watered and flick through some vinyl, The Record Crate comes highly recommended.

MUSIC, OLD SKOOL RECORDS, DRINKS, FOOD. The Record Crate is located in Glebe and by chance, I drop by with some friends for a drink. When I was walking by on Glebe Point Rd, we walked by the Record Crate and I wasn't sure if it was a music store or a bar. When I saw a few people drinking; I figured it was potentially a mesh of the two.

...The Record Crate, located in beautiful Sydney, Australia (Glebe in particular) is basically Disneyland for seasoned music affectionados such as myself. Under one roof you can watch amazing live music, stand up comedy, view experimental live art performances, browse amazing quality hard to find records, eat great food and drink amazing beer. I've visited there only a handful of times and have already added amazing condition, original pressings of Tom Waits, The Pogu

Booker T and the MGs is flooding the cosy courtyard of The Record Crate, where I’m surrounded by colourful randomness: Astroturf, beer keg tables, Hendrix posters, a hula hoop and a rather baffling chunk of concrete. This might be an echo of the bar’s hybrid nature – the Crate is actually a bar, restaurant, café, record shop and live music venue. The food is simple and generous, and owner Neville waves to me from the kitchen while making my Slow Roasted Pork Belly ($20). The Crate isn’t designed to be a cocktail bar, and my Old Fashioned ($16) isn’t impressive, so I stick to the tasty house brew: Uncle Joe’s Pale Ale ($8), and then enjoy a glass of peppery shiraz from Two Thumbs ($8). It feels like the bar is still working itself out, but the chilled atmosphere and excellent music mean that my one glass of wine has somehow turned into four, and I’m still happily ensconced in the courtyard hours later.

I felt like I was back in the 80's in London with all these records about. Came here for dinner got the chicken schnitzel burger it was very taste they did shoestring fries which were perfect. They also have an upstairs section for stand up comedy.

Nice place to chill and eat. Burgers and milkshakes are great and the atmosphere is very "cool" in a non hipster way, which is good. Definitely worth a try.

Great place with a couple of really friendly chilled out dudes running the joint. Had a peruse through all the old records, found some gems and enjoyed a beer in the cosy courtyard.

Yeah this place is where the cool kids hang. Great vibe, hip place. These people love and respect music. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a food option available that’s delivered to your table. Good place to watch a gig and there is an upstairs section. You can hang out the back to get some air if you want. Just go..

I'd been meaning to checkout out this place for ages. As you walk in, you are greeted by records - records on the walls, records in the crates and even record table numbers! Some great 60's, 70's and 80's stuff. I had a hamburger, and it tasted just like a amazing home made burger. The menu was great for a little place - burger, pizzas and even a little Mexican. Staff were lovely! I'll be back again in the warmer months to check out the outside courtyard area!

Another fantastic small bar supporting Sydney's burgeoning craft beer scene and it's not as hipster as you'd think. It has an excellent location on Glebe Point Road, a cute outdoor courtyard and a full kitchen. Worth visit for a burger and IPA.

Great place to catch some local music upstairs with a great selection of vinyl downstairs. Didn't try the food but their selection of beer is also fantastic! Kind of a grunge aesthetic.

Great venue. Craft beers on tap, good but not overly expensive selection of wines and spirits. Fantastic atmosphere, the venue is built around classic tunes, records and live music.

Great steak, great atmosphere, friendly staff! Fell in love with The Record Crate when it first opened its doors, and I have been missing it dreadfully since I moved away from Sydney three months ago. Apart from the great food and service, The Record Crate has a goldmine of records that I have had the fortune to peruse (and purchase)! Everything from original Jimi Hendrix to The Kooks vinyls can be found here, only if one is willing to spend a happy hour (or two) looking through the many crates lined up along its walls. Definitely a great place to bring out-of-towners/newbies to the Inner West - it captures the bohemian vibe and great food that the Glebe/Newton areas are best known for.
