Review Cbd Noodle - Sydney

Tony Do
Very busy noodle shop in the Winter Garden food court. Quite popular with the office crowd during lunch. There’s two lines one for noodle soup and stir fried noodles, with the latter the more in demand. You choose your noodles and toppings and they cook it fresh for you on the spot. Noodles are nice, would recommend

Always really good. Freshly cooked noodles. Good selection of ingredients and sauces. It does get very busy at lunch time though so come early if you don't want to wait.

WARNING: This place gave me food poisoning today. How on earth can you get food poisoning from a wonton and noodle soup. This place used to be good but clearly don’t care about safe food practices. Never again. If I could give zero stars I would.

Great lunch time good - especially for a Friday! Been coming here for ages, only set back is the massive price hikes that have been occurring more and more.

Showed up at 2:45z. Fully packed up and we’re cleaning even though I called and they said closing time was 3pm. Not good enough

This is simply the best Laksa I have ever had. While there are a variety of dishes available at CBD noodles, including feshly made stir fry dishes, the signature dish has to be the Laksa. Popular at lunchntime, the long lines usually move very quickly as the system is setup for speed without sacrificing quality. Definitely try the Chicken Laksa, ask for extra wontons to make it just that little bit more perfect. Card payment accepted and they even provide bibs to protect your business shirt from splashback, perfect score!

Malaysian Noodles were very appetising. Service was quick.

Still maintaining the same quality after almost 2 decades at the same place in Wintergarden. Hats off.

My go-to for lunchtime laksa in the CBD! I confess I'm probably one of the only people in Sydney who prefers it to Malay-Chinese.. even though the soup and toppings at Malay-Chinese are objectively better. I prefer the laksa at CBD Noodles because it is more savoury rather than sweet, the wide flat rice noodles are firmer (with more of a body) and the sambal has slightly more character (with a more pronounced prawn flavour). Note that it can get pretty spicy for the untrained, especially with the sambal.

At CBD Noodle are two queues: one for wok-fried noodles, the other for soup noodles. The line for the wok-fried noodles is usually longer, although I have only ever had the soup noodles. Lunch on weekdays tends to be packed from 12-1pm, but occasionally I have encountered a short line or even no line at all. In any case, it moves relatively fast - at maximum, a 10 minute wait to order and an additional 10 minutes to receive your noodles.

On the soup noodles side, there is also a choice of tom yum noodles or noodles with clear soup (usually with wontons). Once prepared, the lady at the end will ask whether you'd like it topped with shallots, fried onion and/or coriander - you can choose a maximum of two. In addition, you can have sambal (although the lady calls it "chilli") in the noodles or on a spoon on the side.

Overall, a quick, cheap, filling and delicious option for lunch!

One of my regular spots in the city to go for noodles and the noodles are always consistently good and never disappoints. I usually order the chicken noodle soup and I always ask for lots of chili paste the lady at the counter offers. It does feel like a reasonably healthy dish as well with chicken breast mainly used here with some veggies too.

There's always a huge line here and it's a good indication on the quality of food available.

We ordered for thick rice noodles with Pork, Choi sum and broccoli , it was so good that we have had it 2 days in a row , very well prepared and authentic flavours , keep it up .

The stir fried noodles are really really tasty. I've tried the chicken and the beef versions and would recommend the beef one, with egg noodles and oyster sauce.

Desent Laksa - only complaint is that you don't get enough fried onions on your laksa, if the lady could be a bit more generous with that it would be perfect.

I like the stir fry and tom yum noodles here. It used to be very smoky in this building because of their kitchen but after the refurbishment of winter garden, it now feels breathable. Good food and usually a long line, so that's a clear indication that it is a winner. You can customise your stir fry noodles by selecting the meat, the sauce and choice of veggies. I like that it is freshly cooked to order, unlike food that has been on the hot plate all day.

Located in winter garden food court cbd noodle consistently has a line of people waiting for either their bowl of laksa or container of stirfry. You can tell the regulars who have their order system down pat as oppose to the new comers slowly working their way down the line of options. This place has something for everyone as you select your type of noodles, vegetables, meat and sauce. In winter I highly recommend their laksas. My go to stirfry is the prawn with rice noodles and Malaysian chilli sauce. While you wait for your order watch the chefs in the kitchen turning out 100s of orders over the wok. The only negative I would say is that the meats often spill over into other sections of the vegetables so if you are particular about this or have allergies this may not be the place for you. Otherwise give it a try!

My workmates wanted laksa so went to Wintergarden with them. I had the intention of eating at a different outlet but unluckily for me, third time i went to a food court this year just to have the food outlet I wanted to go to shut down! I was disappointed by that but not as disappointed by my meal here. I am not a laksa fan as my workmates were raving to me about how much they enjoyed these here as usually too spicy for me so I went with Wok-Tossed Noodles. The service was bordering on rude as when I paid by credit card, the lady looked at me disdainfully. If they don't want to accept credit cards they should just switch to cash only if such a big problem. I had Thick Rice Noodles with Broccoli, Fresh Mushroom & Carrots, Chicken, and Dark Soy Sauce. It was a generous portion however that was really the only redeeming feature. Whilst the chicken, carrots and noodles were cooked through, both the broccoli and mushrooms were cold. There was barely any soy sauce flavour and the main taste was of oil. It was a waste of my stomach space and probably the worst meal I have had at Wintergarden. Definitely choose something else...actually anything else!

laksa here is pretty good, had the chicken laksa and the serving size is decent as is the price. good for a decent feed and the service is pretty quick although they only take cash which is a pain sometimes. a good substitute for chinese malay!

UPDATE: ok they take card as well now but the soup isn't as great as before, better options available mo

Office crowds, rush hour. The Winter garden food court in Sydney's banking district maintains its renovated fresh looks. I noticed the Pho Bar. The sushi outlet had many patient customers lining up properly. This cannot be said for CBD Noodles, where once you have made your food orders, it was several people standing all over and everywhere for their stir-fried or soup noodles. It is good to see the three men stir fry your orders not the spot, utilising a system of personal options in type of noodles and accompanying ingredients. I chose white flat rice noodles or Koay Teow with Cantonese Char Siew and bean sprouts - there was the essential wok heat there. The staff are friendly even if busy.

CBD noodle is part of the Wintergarden complex. At $14 - the top end of the price range for lunchtime laksa - I was expecting quite a lot from my seafood laksa. Too much, as it turned out. The laksa was ok but not amazing - there was something a little raw about the laksa broth, and the seafood was adequate rather than generous. A lesson to me not to eat laksa outside of specialist malay restaurants.
MVN
We had the chicken laksa and the stir fried beef noodles with oyster sauce. The laksa lacked flavour. The broth was too diluted and coconuty. Definitely not up to par with Malay Chinese. However, the beef noodles were flavoursome with a nice charred flavour from the wok. Lines here get pretty long during lunch but it is quick and there are heaps of seating.

Never a dull moment at CBD Noodle, serving up both noodles and soups.

Quick, fresh and well made, it will have you coming back for more. Laskas are great and offer large portions.

Shame about the lines during lunch, snaking around Wintergarden - testament to the food I guess

The Wintergarden located at 1 O’Connell Street is open now! And to celebrate, we got invited to a feast! Just look at this spread! The Wintergarden houses nine food tenants and other residents including a dry cleaner, shoe repairer, newsagent and barber. To say that "WinterGarden is a food court in the CBD’ would be an understatement. The lavish spread of eateries is nothing less than grand. WinterGarden is home to an extensive number of popular restaurants, ranging from Bowery Lane to good old Sushi Hub. Mini Charlie Chaplin Cocktail - Bowery Lane I usually wince a bit inside when I’m offered alcohol at restaurants because most of the time, it’s some fancy schmancy stuff that doesn’t really sit well on my tastebuds. Luckily for me, Charlie Chaplin was a great balance between sweet and the subtle alcoholic taste. Pumpkin and Feta Frittata with kale and quinoa salad + Nutella Frappe - Wintergarden Deli I’m personally not a fan of frittata in general but the frittata was hearty with it’s pumpkin and feta elements. The kale and quinoa salad is well, kale and quinoa, nothing too exciting there. Although, the Nutella Frappe was definitely something special. The oh-so creamy chocolately hazelnut spread as a drink form is an ingenious idea. Salmon Sashimi, Chicken and Avocado roll, spicy tuna brown rice roll, seaweed and jelly fish salad - Sushi Hub Sushi Hub and I are no strangers. There are countless times when I’ve been caught in the CBD doing errands and craving for a bite on the go. That’s when Sushi Hub comes in, with delicious sushi at affordable prices! Everything here was fresh, vibrant and tasty, no faults from me!

Ch eck out the new Wintergarden food court located in the heart of the CBD. WinterGarden is a great place for a bite whether it be grab and go, or a bit of a longer sojourn with a special someone. The eateries and sample food include: Bowery Lane – Roasted snapper, slow cooked lamb shoulder, Charlie Chaplins, Brooklyn beer, wines. CBD noodles – Chicken laksa and wonton noodle soup. Chur express (Chur burger) – Chicken sliders Crema from the Garden – Tea, coffee, and cakes. Los Vida – Fish tacos, chilaquiles, quesadillas. Sushi Hub – Bite-sized sushi plate. Soul Origin – Baguettes, paninis, salads, freshly made chai. Top Juice – Juices and fresh smoothies. WinterGarden Deli – Pumpkin and feta frittata with kale and quinoa salad, Nutella frappé. Check out my sample of Wintergarden To start us off the Wintergarden Deli introduced the group to their Nutella frappe and savoury pumpkin and feta frittata with kale and quinoa salad. Nutella frappé, you ask? The drink was absolutely delicious! As for the frittata, the slight sweetness of the pumpkin and salty creaminess of the feta was a nice combination. The salad being sweet from raisins, sour from the dressing, and crunchy complemented the frittata well in taste and texture.

From the Wintergarden to the Tropic of Cancer; Los Vida offers the best of fresh and authentic Mexican food. Hola! It is the first time I saw Monsieur’s boss cry when she was having the full-on Laksa version (our mild one - though lovely in flavour - was spicy to me, and quite spicy for Monsieur)

Wow - what can I say? Awesome Laksa! noodles (rice or both), tofu, different fillings (chicken & prawn being the most popular

Busy and popular spot for all the usual Asian eats. Wonton Noodle Soup ($9.50) was nice with good wontons and noodles and plenty of fresh greens although broth lacked decent flavour so I'd consider adding some soy sauce and chilli when collecting. Efficient service. Lots of seating with natural light.

I've been there before, every time the line is quite long. So normally I would chose a shorter one for ordering laksa. The beef laksa is amazing. The beef pieces are very tasty and give a lot. The soup is nice not too salty at all. Like it!

Simon Food Favourites review. Tried the Seafood Laksa ($13). Quite pricey compared to others in area but flavour and ingredients OK. Decent sized prawns and fair amount of fish and squid although no mussel like at Lee's Malaysian. Broth was more on the milky side than the depth of robust flavour found at Malay-Chinese Takeaway and they only provide plastic spoons and wooden chopsticks instead of real cutlery. Lots of seating available in the food court which is good. Service was pretty friendly and highly efficient. Laksa was ready in minutes.

Great lunch option. Quick, cheap and tasty noodles for a lunch option. I ask for less noodles because there is just too much of them.
Adam B
Great food and prices and fast service. Much better than the now closed Hokka noodles in World Square. This place does not serve Laksa or noodle soups

Best noodle boxes in Sydney. This place is packed during lunchtimes and with good reason. The noodle boxes are the best! Their chicken is very tasty and their chili sauce literally explodes in your mouth. I have introduced so many people to this place and will continue to do so for a long time.
TheLaksaBlog
One of the Top Laksas in Sydney. While I'm getting a review done up - if anyone has not tried the laksa here, highly recommend it!
