We had the GB’s Adventure, set menu option. Each dish was fantastic and presented beautifully. Amazing flavours in each course. The staff were very friendly and engaging. I highly recommend this restaurant and think it was really reasonably priced too.
Absolutely love how consistent the food is, always super delicious and great flavors! I came here for my birthday at the end of last year and absolutely loved the spring rolls I think I could probably eat 100 of them! Also the panna cotta is one of the best I’ve ever had can’t wait to come back soon :)
We normally come here for lunch but decided on the best Korean Chicken for dinner, its really busy here so book, if you dont good luck they will try but its so good its busy all the time. My wife was drinking French Rose I was on great craft beers, as we had the best Korean Chicken............just love it here. The flavours here are spicy and great but not too hot unless you ask, with great relaxed wait staff who are there to help its a really welcoming experience. Lunch is always great but now dinner its also great and then you have their coconut sundae oh yeah its good, I finished with a 12yo whiskey and we wandered into the night, a great night at a great place.
It’s not easy doing fusion. Presenting novel dishes in a gastronomic way is hard. Really hard.
Although not everything was different, everything surpassed my expectations. The eggplant curry puff had a delicious sauce, the duck curry was solid, the fried egg had a delightful chutney, the baby cos salad was delicious with both chilli and an intriguing dressing that was not too heavy. Tasted like a yogurt / mayo hybrid and I loved it.
Cocktails were solid.
One of my favourites for Asian fusion with efficient service.
We opted for the al la carte meal the various dumplings were on point. My favourite duck curry which was just ok this time but was unfortunately not heated through, along with the corn cakes which were a little too dry.
Overall the kingfish sashimi and Korean bbq spare ribs were fantastic.
Had the $50 lunch break deal - 6 dishes to share. Had a little group catch-up and thought this was the easiest option. My favourite was the Kingfish sashimi. Fresh starter with enjoyable pops of puffed rice. My least favourite was the main - the chicken masala was a little tart with the pickled cucumber and yoghurt.
Nice ambiance, busy but not too loud. Service was top notch, everyone was very polite, informative and very tentative. I had a very pleasant dining experience and wouldn’t hesitant to come back.

Review: We had a few @goodfoodau vouchers and this is def a great option to use them! The service here is one of the best in town. They are extremely friendly, attentive and helpful - and I never had to remind them to refill my water or replace the plates after each course. To avoid food wastage, always check with them if you have ordered just enough or a little too much. They also provide complimentary rice to enjoy your mains with them.
we ordered some wine and cocktails to kickstart our indulgent evening. The Kaffir cocktail was refreshing and not overwhelmingly sweet. There was also a good selection of wines which we enjoyed.
As for the food, we loved the chicken spare ribs - crispy, tender and so full of flavour! The roasted trout was also perfectly done - it could do with a bit more sauce and oyster mushrooms to pair well with the rice.
The best part of the crispy pork dish is the crispy skin! You can really hear the crunch as we eat. The pairing of crispy pork belly with papaya salad is not new to the asian fusion scene, but Gingerboy doesn’t overfry the pork meat- this allows the meat taste to stand out!
our massaman cauliflower curry maintained the Thai sweetness to curry, but went well with crispy corn cakes. The “cucur jagung” was fried just like the ones I’ve had in malaysia. Summary - would def come back!

We had a birthday here in a private room. It read amazing. The food was punchy and every dish was just perfect. Staff were attentive and made sure every glass was full. Definitely come back for more
8.5/10! Great place for dinner if you’re looking for a light meal.
First off, great service! They were extremely friendly in explaining the menu, giving us recommendations, catering to dietary requirements and making sure all the food came on time.
For food:
The eggplant curry puff was very nice 👌 it was not oily and the turmeric yogurt sauce was a nice refreshing dip.
The son in law eggs were normal, nothing special though I liked the chili sauce and fried onions that accompanied it.
Thai red duck curry was not spicy, sweet but still packed of flavor so it was good! Would have preferred it to be more spicy but the duck was cooked well.
The roasted ocean trout was soft and tender. Again, the mushroom and chili sauce that accompanied it was the highlight of the dish! Even the crispy fish skin was good.
The best dish of the meal has to be the silken tofu with vegan XO sauce. It was made from mushroom and the umami flavor really resembled the original sauce! The crispy mushroom toppings added a nice crunch to the dish.
Would definitely return here to try the desserts as we saw the next table having it, and boy did it look good 😍 though we were too full to try.
Any vegan or mushroom lover should pay this restaurant a visit as they have done a delicious twist to some of their dishes.
Dinner last night at @gingerboymelb The whole baby snapper was definitely different as it was deboned at the table. This dish was inspired by the vibrant flavours across southeast asia. One of the hidden gems in the quintessential Melbourne laneway
Saturday night banquet feasting at Gingerboy was to much fun.
Dined from GB Banquets. The food was incredible. We had a vegetarian in the group who was catered to on the Vegetarian banquet so did not miss out on any fun.
Standout dishes from the group were the Son in Law Eggs and the Chicken Spare Ribs 😋 …I also always love a good Cucumber Salad!
We did the early sitting so they needed the table back when the second sitting arrived. We were able to move upstairs to the bar to continue drinking through the yummy wine list which was lovely. The bar staff were awesome, so attentive and great conversation from both staff and other customers sitting at the bar.
Thanks to the team at Gingerboy for a fabulous night!
I have never had better food in my life. It was absolutely delish. Best restaurant ever. Absolutely fantastic service from June, Lily, Nicole, Jenny, Yvan and Alex (very friendly all of them). My favourite dish was the chicken spare ribs so yummy. I would 100/10 recommend. Such a good experience at Gingerboy. Thanks!

The service is impeccable and they went above and beyond to check on some dietary requirements.
The Thai moon cocktail was so good that we ended up ordering more than one.
They have a good wine list as well.
The fish was cooked perfectly and the duck curry was rich but very tasty.
The desserts were rich and decadent but if you don't have a big sweet tooth would recommend splitting one for 2 people.
Thank you for making a very memorable dining experience and we would definitely be back.

Gingerboy is a vibrant CBD restaurant & bar with funky, disco-style decor dishiing up south-east Asian, street style eats. Head Chef Teage created a menu with a nod to his favourite hawker adventures. 🥟
Not only is the food SE Asian inspired but so is there killer drinks list. Even though some ingredients were missing, their expert bar staff were able to mix us up something even better. You can take a seat at the bar down stairs or upstairs for a meal, it’s the perfect vibe to catch up with friends.
The service here was amazing and definitely has improved from previous visits, we felt they went above and beyond to ensure we were looked after. We ordered their Luxe Journey Banquet Menu ($100pp) and although we had some strict allergies, we were fed very well. You will not be hungry after this! 👅
The first few dishes were okay (Kingfish, Son in Law Egg, Cucumber Salad) lacked seasoning and that wow factor. The Scallops were sadly very dry and the Prawn Buns were delicious but only lightly filled leaving us craving more. 🍤
Dish of the night for me was the drool worthy Wagyu Steak, the Rice Noodle Rolls and the spicy Gyoza. I don’t feel the rice and lettuce were well thought out sides, some greens would have been better. 🥩
Now that I know which dishes I enjoy, I would probably order from the A La Carte Menu next time but the Banquet is perfect for groups who may find the menu too overwhelming to choose from. It was a mixture of shared and individuals dishes and as a party of 3 we often had 2 dishes to share which was plenty. So good for odd numbers 😉
⭐️ 3.5/5 (Good)
Wonderful food, great follow though on small concerns, nice selection of wine, service with a smile and a good balance between chatty and professional, ambiance was unique which I loved, price was totally acceptable considering.
Unfortunately I hate paying good money and having the back of my chair often rubbing the person behind me. Sorry I have been to my fair share of restaurants ... Quality, Pubs, Cheapo, Casino, exclusive I don't often get the problem and I hate it when I do.
Would love also if they can supply a table card, with more details on the meal. So we ordered the $100 menu, I could hardly remember what was what by the end.
Such a great atmosphere! Bustling with conversation but the absolute best bit was the food - just delicious, especially the duck and chocolate mousse dessert!
Gingerboy never disappoints. Service was friendly and impeccable and each dish came served with a great explanation of the flavours. Pace for the banquet was perfect and we truly enjoyed the visit as both an experienced and a meal together with friends.
Great Service and Great food except for a couple of dishes. When I'm in Melbourne again ill definitely be returning to try other dishes and some of the same ones.
Top dishes were Spanner Crab & Cuttlefish Bun, Soft shell crab bao, Salt & Pepper Chicken Ribs & Red Duck Curry.
Not so great dishes were the Wagyu Steak (was a bit bland and tough - strange for wagyu) and the rice noodle rolls again were bland and needed more flavour.
