It’s been years since I’ve tried this place, upstairs really needs a fan as it was hot & stuffy. Apart from that the food was good & came out at a good pace. The fried dumplings were very good, also the pork baos 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Very friendly staff. Good selection of dumplings to choose from. Beer was nice and cold. Highly recommend the crispy pork sliders and the rendang sliders, and of course the Xiao long bao dumplings. But it was all very tasty.

Food is definitely below average. Duck pancakes are microwaved, I knew because they were nuclear hot so I asked the staff and they confirmed it, dumplings were tasteless and I think the Xiao Long Bao came from a packet becuase the dough was so chewy and not a lot of flavour in the soup. At least they were consistent with the quality of service matching the food. I don't like giving bad reviews but this one was warranted

If you're Asian or take Asian food seriously, this place will disappoint. To be frank, it's Chinese food for white people - the name says it all.
The price is very expensive: $9.90 for four dumplings and $4 for one pork bun. The dishes looked and tasted like they were sourced from the frozen section of an Asian supermarket.
If you're here for drinks and a side of cheap quality dumplings, perhaps you'll be pleased. Otherwise, head down to Chinatown for more affordable options that won't burn your wallet.

Don’t go to this restaurant if you’re hungry..!!! Worst service ever experienced, waited 1 hour 45 minutes for food that never came. Waiter came to us 3 times over an hour to tell us items we had ordered had become unavailable, they insisted they had put the other meals on so should be out soon. Shouldn’t take that long to steam some dumplings. Tables around us were also waiting a very long time, however when everyone around us who ordered an hour after us got there meal we decided it was time to leave. Would never go back !!! Waste of time and energy. Would rate 1 if I could.

The dumplings tasted like they were frozen. we spent $70 in total and didn’t even end up eating anything. every time a new meal came out we hoped that it would be good and it was just as bad as the one before

Awesome dumplings, cool little venue - consistent food pairing with a nice cold Tsingtao!

Casual atmosphere that makes this place a good pick for a chilled couples night. A small but delicious menu accompanied by a good beer list, D&B is a good spot for most. You have to try the pork crackling sliders, they were perfect! The home made chilli is hot af loved it

Funky little place, friendly and well informed staff, good selection of beers on tap and the food was awesome and well priced, Highly recommend the chilli sauce.
Elsa Chiron
Yummy dumplings, steamed buns and sliders. The place is compact, but the service was fast. Highly recommended for dumpling lovers.

This is one of our regular places since we live so near by. They've always been amazing - great food and service. A new guy served us the other day and he seemed so nervous about it so if you're reading this new guy you were fantastic and friendly. Absolutely recommend Dumplings and Beer to anyone who is looking for a good feed around Darlinghurst/Kings Cross area

Great local for an easy week night dinner (and beet).

 dumplings and beer!
One of my faves even if we have to travel an hour to get there from home.

A little gem in the heart of Potts Point! Great food and friendly service. The Duck Wrap is a must have - delicate and flavoursome!

So great, the pork crackling is to die for. Great beer selection too.

The crispy pork belly sliders live on in your memory. Absolutely delicious!

Somewhat of a hidden restaurant, Dumplings & Beer in Potts Point is one of my top contenders for being Sydneys best Chinese restaurants. The food is exceptionally flavoursome and I would highly recommend the duck pancakes and pork buns.
If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

It was a very windy and cold evening so I was really happy this was nearby our hotel (Sydney boulevard hotel) and was only a 4 min walk. This place is more of like a chill place to drink beers with friends and as an afterthought, also food. I’d say for late night convenience and price, it was good. It was about $70AUD for two people with food and beer. Definitely recommend the pork belly bao; it was juicy, crispy, and filling. The potstickers (or pork dumplings) were the next favorite; each dumpling was huge, crispy, and juicy. The duck wrap and bbq pork bun was okay, and avoid the onion pancakes and vegetables at all cost - it is underwhelming lol. Overall, if you’re looking for a place to chill and hangout, come here cuz it’s quick and easy!

This restaurant provides authentic Chinese food with a westernised twist to it. The food was stunning, I loved the prawn dumplings and duck pancakes. We ordered 9 dishes between two and the lady advised us to only order 7 since 9 was way too many- she was right. I appreciate her honesty that’s why I’m giving this place 5/5.

Cool setting! The restaurant looks like it's been built in an old terrace, so it's quite squishy! I loved the vibe though, and a projector filmed showed a movie on one of the walls. My favourite dishes were the bao bun sliders: pork belly crackling and Peking duck. They both had the same sauce so tasted fairly similar, I would recommend just picking one and going for your favorite meat. I personally love crackling so I preferred the pork ones. For dumplings, we ordered the prawn & pork dim sum, vegetable dumplings, and soupy /xiao long bou dumplings. The soupy dumplings were not as good as other places, there wasn't much 'soup'. The prawn and pork dumplings were nice but I was wanting a big chunk of prawn and the meat was all kind of minced together. The vegetable dumplings were probably my favourite! Lastly, the BBQ pork buns were good but not a stand out.

Cute hole in the wall place with funky decor and fun hip hop music playing. Service is efficient no frills Asian. The standout dish for me was the beef rendeng sliders. Dumplings were pretty good too. Will definitely be back.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
I took my 2 nieces and 1 nephew to Luna park, we googled dumpling bars and this place was not our first pick, however the first pick was also in Victoria st, the stuff was very rude so we then found this place.

I walked in asked for table for 4, the staff where lovely and asked if we had a booking I said now. They pointed to the two tables and said take a seat,

The food here is amazing, we had pork and cabbage dumpling! Which was so good! The nieces loved them.

They also had xia long bao (shanghai dumplings)
They kids loved this too.

There favourite was buy far the pork and shrimp steamed dim sums, we ended up ordering 2 lots of the above!!! ⬆️

We also order,
1 service of duck pancakes which the kids love!!

I am vegetarian so i ordered the veggie dumplings. Which where so tasty I ended up ordering 2 servings,

I ordered shallot pancakes, my nephew was so surprised they tasted the way they did and she he really liked it!!!

We also ordered some green veggies.

The stuff here where so nice and I would definitely highly recommend this place!

Love this place. Great atmosphere, friendly service. A variety of gluten free dumplings available, and gluten free soy sauce on the bar. Head there as a couple and not in a large group - there isn't much space inside.
Coffeebrunchanddinner
This is where you can get a no frills dumpling hit that still offers a fun atmosphere. The menu consists of dumplings, pork or vegetarian buns, various versions of boa/pancakes and some desserts. Simply mark your selections on the paper order sheet (including drinks) and you are good to go. The prices are reasonable and for $25 each we all had a drink and left feeling full of food. The duck pancakes were a standout however you can't really go wrong with the food options. It is a tight space and even on a Tuesday night it was tricky to get a table.
The Dear Luncher
These are things The Dear Luncher cannot do without: dumplings and beer. And here at Dumplings and Beer, these two commodities are ready and willing participants in a Dear Luncher adventure. When this particular establishment appeared on Your Dear Luncher’s radar, there was never any doubt. And upon arrival, the brilliance of this decision was realised before an order was even made. Seated upstairs to observe the surrounds perfectly, The Dear Luncher perched and soaked it all in.

What a treat! The concept of being able to enjoy my authentic Asian with a classic cider and a foreign film projected on a wall in front of me was too good. The food came out quick, was fresh and surprised me. The pork slider rendition made me believe in love again (haha). But nothing says love like a movie and great food!

Sooooooo full - great interior - they make the most with the tight space. Wall to wall character. The food is excellent and service speedy. I would definitely have a repeat dinner at D&B.

Excellent attentive service. Sapporo Japanese beer is available but not shown on menu - this was good news!
Rendang sliders a highlight. The broccoli was actual broccoli, not Chinese broccoli- a little disappointing. Vegetable gluten free dumplings were bland, the shrimp ones okay. Gluten free fell apart and were difficult to eat- good to have the option though.
Beware the hot chilli is really hot, don't be confused by the creamy texture! Would return x

Place was busy even on a Tuesday evening but staff were very accomodating and the wait for a table was short. Dumplings and Beer appears to be a family business and the service was excellent. Favourite dishes were pork belly baos and the scallop dumplings. Pan fried pork dumplings and shallot pancakes were also tasty. Nothing too fancy but washed down with a cold beer it was a very satisfying, reasonably priced dinner. Highly recommend although be warned it is a small space so best for groups of 2 to 3
Rebecca
The duck Bao and the pan fried pork dumplings were good but the other dumplings were very poor. Thick skin, sticking together, no soup in the soup dumplings. You can find much better dumplings in so many places.
Sweetandyummie
This is a cute little place offering easy chinese dishes that are great for sharing. As you walk in it feels quite cramped but as time passes it just feels warms and neighbourly. As you eat your food and drink beer you can watch a movie on the wall above the front door and the customer service is highly attentive. I highly recommend the Shallot pancakes and the port belly bao.

Dumplings & Beer Potts Point was a delightful dining experience!

The menu is short and sweet, and the dishes are simple, homie however inventive! Not fine dining, but their chilli was on point and in combination with the pork soup dumplings, rendang sliders and eggplant tofu wrap it was complimented with the house apple cider.

Was a little bit queasy with the gory Chinese comedy playing on the wall infront of my friend and I whilst consuming our food; but this place is definitely worth a try. Best to go before 7:30pm as their favoured dishes such as the crackling pork belly sliders are often sold out.

Such a cute hidden spot for dumplings! Loved the decor and old school Jackie Chan movies playing on the wall of the entrance - a great touch! The food was great, highlights were especially the crispy pork belly sliders & duck wraps however all dumplings were pretty good as well. We came here for a bday which they catered for upstairs. Service was excellent and served with a smile & asked us how everything was going. I will definitely come back here!! It's a great place for dates or dinner with friends. Great prices, food and service!! I am surprised there hasn't been more reviews about this place!

Friendly family setup, doesn't quite deliver on what it promises. Don't get me wrong, it's a good option to have and I wish them all the success but the dumps are sloppy and not as good as many options outside of the area. But please try for yourself as good family businesses are hard to find these days!

Love this place!. I recently went here for a quick, cheap meal with a friend after work and absolutely loved the place! The BYO wine option is great ($5 corkage) but they're licensed as well. We hadn't made a reservation and luckily there were 2 seats left for us but I'd recommend booking. The venue is very small, and you can be elbow to elbow with the people next to you but it's super cozy and they do a good job of making the small space work and it's not too noisy because of the high ceilings and open doors. The menu is simple but every single option is great - I would have happily ordered 1 of everything if there were more of us! Because the restaurant only seats 25, the food comes out in a timely manner and is piping hot. All of our dumplings were delicious as were the pork belly sliders and duck wraps. I think it was the owner looking after us and he was lovely, very accommodating, and made sure we were comfortable and having a great experience. We brought our partners back last night for round two! They loved it too and I think we've found our new local eatery. Great for a no-fuss date night! Love that they do takeaway as well! $25/head both times we went and we left full!
