Great food and lovely service. The menu has kind of a Mediterranean-Middle Eastern feel. My friend had the zucchini fritters which were delicious; I had the falafel wrap which was pretty standard (the fries were spot-on though).
Prices very reasonable so good value.
Best of all, they’ve got a courtyard with umbrellas so you can sit outside - greatly appreciated in these covid times.

One of my favourite cafes in Sydney. Great coffee and food, especially the Mediterranean dishes. Favourites include the Shaksuka, chicken gyro wrap, fattoush and fish tacos. The owner is super nice also.
Alex Concepcion
Solid Mediterranean at a fair price. Good choice in the Summer Hill strip. Enjoyed the shakshuka as a late lunch. Ordered the lamb skewers, which could do with more lamb than fries, but I'll let it slide. Great coffee too.
Very friendly and acommodating staff. Not bad to use dine vouchers on.

Firstly, I have chosen one star because it's not possible to choose no stars.
We ordered take away for pick up at 11.30am. Upon arriving I was told they just needed to make the juices which was all very reasonable. It was ready a few mins after that (I could see the take away bags and juices all sitting on the front table). However, no one handed me the order so I assumed it was another order and not mine. 20 mins later, the same person approached me and asked what I was waiting for. They were apologetic immediately and handed me what had been sitting on their table for 20 mins!! It took me another 10 mins to drive home so needless to say the food was horrible as it was barely warm, chips soggy etc. after having been in packaging for half an hour.
On Mother's Day, we decided to give them a 2nd chance and ordered there again in the hope that the experience and food would be better (especially if it wasn't trapped in cardboard containers for half an hour!) No issues on pickup this time but the 2 x corn fritters (for the two mums!) we ordered were so burnt they were not edible, see photos. We rang and they offered to replace them which meant I needed to waste at least another 20-25 mins driving back and forth while both mums had to sit around watching others eat their meals. Upon arriving, I received the most insincere apology when I asked how they could serve this to their customers. The response I received was 'it's Mother's Day, we're busy', to which I responded 'that's not really an acceptable reason'. I then rudely received the comment 'it's gonna have to be'.
Needless to say, we won't be going back here and hope others don't either so they don't have the experience the same poor food and service. For those who decide to go anyway, please try not to go on a 'busy' day because apparently to them that's an acceptable reason to serve you rubbish!

Great coffee and good food. Ordered the Prawn Tacos which I was unfortunately unable to finish but it was delish (could do with a bit less mayo imo). They got an interesting menu compared to your normal Cafe food
Eva Hanna
Incredible! Definitely recommend. Beautiful food, every single time! Great customer service and great ambience. I even made the mistake of forgetting to order almond milk in my chai and I was offered a free replacement with the right milk. So kind.

Had a Mediterranean breakfast plate and an iced latte! delicious food and great coffee - will be coming back again

This place is always awesome, service is great and food never disappoints. Chef here is super creative and besides the regular menu, they always have something new and different to offer for limited time, although it's always keeping the line on the type of cuisine.
Generally is quite busy but they help to accommodate you quite quick even if is packed.
Marianna Tuccia
Plunge No.46 is always consistently good no matter what you order. My ham and cheese croissant hit the spot on Saturday morning and the coffee is just the way I like it: smooth and not overly bitter. #summerhill
Ana Paul
The best food and coffee in Summer Hill. The staff are very friendly and fast. The food is really good. The menu needs some updating but is quite reasonable and the chef will improvise or accommodate requests and some changes on ingredients. My partner is vegetarian and asked for a halloumi burger (not in the menu) and the chef made a delicious one. My partner was very pleased so we go there frequently.
Sushi Slayer
Their Pea pancake is amazing and keeps me going back to them. I’ve also tried their chicken Caesar, which was surprisingly great as well. It gets quite busy over the weekend because the food is overall very great there
Freddie Diaz
Great customer service, everybody on point. The food well ok I guess. I tried the fritters and was just ok, nothing great. Coffee ok as well. Is an ok place to eat. Love the customer care but won’t b back. Food nothing special
Kate
Good place for nice brunch. Pea pancake is delicious, healthy and rich in flavor, staff are polite. Would like to try the other options next time being there.

Imaginative food, excellent coffee and great service from friendly staff. The middle eastern breakfast plate was delicious and great value while the corn fritters were up there with the best we’ve tried. The cafe also had a nice busy Sunday morning vibe. We’ll be back!
Emma
Amazing food and coffee - it was very hard to choose something from the menu with the different range of dishes - but I can’t say the same about the service. I easily would’ve rated Plunge No. 46 a 5/5 if the service wasn’t so terrible. Reading through the other reviews this seems to be a running theme and depends on what day you go.
Maccarone Jen
Nice Mediterranean inspired cafe with great Chef Special breakfast and lunch menu. Amazing coffee from alchemy brew. However the service can be a little inconsistent at times and I feel some menu items a little overpriced. Apart from that it’s a nice cozy cafe joint for the locals.

Every time I go to Plunge, my satisfaction level is different. Overall I like this cafe but it’s not my first choice.

It’s not a big cafe. It has cozy & nice atmosphere. We ordered Ricotta pancake and mashed avocado on toast. I was slightly disappointed with the pancake. There were three small thick pancakes with strawberries & honeycombs with maple syrup. A bit plain and no flavour or surprise.
Need something like cream or yogurt or stewed fruits, etc. I will not order it again.

The avocado on toast was ok. It was tasty but nothing special and the portion was small.

By the way, I had pea pancake last time and it was freshly prepared and delicious. My friends ordered French toast and it looked great and the tastes was nice.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Bathed in sunshine, the umbrella and tree canopy shaded courtyard out the back is a very comfortable spot to enjoy a magazine and Alchemy Coffee. If in need of further nourishment, there's a nice selection of meals, bites and in-betweens. The chicken, corn and spinach toastie really hit the spot with an unidentifiable middle eastern cheese (in the words of the waiters!) providing the requisite ooze.
Fat Boi
Good little neighbourhood spot with plenty of space. Feels like one big open area for the whole place which gives it a nice atmosphere. The coffee is very good and the toasties are delicious, especially the pulled pork one.
Postcards From Peta
One of the best cafes in Summer Hill, Plunge attracts a bunch of locals and walkers by. It’s hard to find parking so when you see one, take it! Service is great, they even gave us a dog bowl for Minnie. . Three cheese and mushroom truffle toast: this was bloody delicious! Not overpowering cheese or truffle. Perfect amount of mushroom etc

I drove through this area, saw this cool spot, and decided stop here for a quick brunch. The pea pancakes are absolutely delicious, well balanced seasoning, good portion of foods. The street view is remarkable, can see two very beautiful trees, nice relaxing background music, gonna come back again for sure with my friends for a chilling afternoon
Pheebs
Fantastic, friendly service, food cooked extremely well and standard sydney cafe brunch pricing. Loved their ricotta pancakes - stack of 3: crunchy on outside, right balance of smooth ricotta and fluffiness on the inside. Tasty pulled pork jaffle too. Good coffee (by Coffee Alchemy). Will be back!
Foodies Incognito
Have been here on a few occasions and have enjoyed my food thoroughly bar this last time. I almost always order the same dish (corn fritters w poached eggs, avocado salsa & sour cream). The fritters were really soft and had no crunch and were a bit dark in color (brownish red??) & the eggs weren't runny! I ordered their drink special Sahlab latte which is a Lebanese/ Arabic inspired drink... but the only similarity was the color of the drink. Quite disappointed! Giving a rating of 4 only for the sake of the occasions that I did enjoy my meals otherwise based on this times experience it would be a 3/5.

Probably one of My favourite cafes in Summer Hill!
Here you know the coffee will always be good, and the food is delicious!

Probably the busiest cafe in Summer Hill because of its location, owners, food and best coffee!

🙊🙈
The breakfast options are always great choice or you can opt for something like the felaffel which is actually so yummy! 😋😋😋

The cakes i find are sometimes dry or don't taste very fresh, i feel like if this place also had amazing sweets on offer they'd deserve that 5☆ rating!
I experienced an allergic reaction in Plunge due to peanuts not being declared as an actual ingredient in a dish I ordered. When I tried to find out what in the food I could be allergic to (I have several allergies), the male staff member (sounds as if it was the same gentleman others here have mentioned as being rude) was extremely unhelpful, rude and condescending. I had to email the manager to find out what I had eaten. I did not receive an apology from the manager for either the allergen being undeclared or for the staff member's rudeness. The menu is really good here - it's a pity the other issues let this place down.
JB
Place run by a bunch of arrogant hipsters! Hesham put together an amazing menu....the service should match the food...shame the place needs a new front of house crew...arrogant impolite and disrespectful bunch
Nadia
Out of all of the Summer Hill cafés, Plunge is my favourite! Their coffee is wonderful, service is always pleasant and quick, and their milkshakes are great too. I still haven’t eaten here yet, but I don’t think I’ll be waiting long 😊
Imelda Samperi
I frequent this place and so do my friends. The food is consistently good. The service is pretty good too, but last Saturday I could not enjoy my breakfast because one of the baristas was extremely rude and aggressive. Even though his colleagues apologised for his behaviour, I may not come back because of this.
I would like to point out which one it was- the guy with the goaty, glasses and long wavy dark brown hair. A hipster - Wikipedia identifies as "pretentious, overly trendy or effete".
The Next Rush
I had the salmon. Perfectly crisped skin, just the right around amount of carbs, thinly sliced and stacked to the side. Generous portion and would probably come.back for sure.
Shoaib Mughal
The best shakshouka in town. Waitresses can be a bit hit and miss but if the owner is about, he's a champ and will look after you from the moment you walk in. Reasonable prices for the higher quality of the coffee and food. Great for a hangover treat!
Hina
Waitress was rude, food was pretty bad and the prices weren't worth what you received.
I honestly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are far superior cafes and restaurants in Summer Hill.
Andrew R Buchel
Little cafe on the main strip of Summer Hill, had brunch here on a Sunday and the place was busy! The staff were really friendly and the service was quite quick however.

Had the corn fritters with tomato relish & poached egg which was very tasty and the portion size good for the price. Also had an Egyptian tea which was minty and refreshing. I'll defiantly be back to try more of their food!
Digestinator
Best zuchinni fritters ive ever had. If you're a mushroom fan try the marinated mushrooms as a side as they were cooked just right. My partner really enjoyed the pea pancakes too. Wow would defenitely come back here again.
Tep Reidy
Consistently great coffee and the servers are always really nice and friendly. The food is also very delicious. This place is my favourite cafe in Summer Hill!
Hamed
Coffee was decent. Not the most friendly staff and service was not great. I had Shakshouka for breakfast and it was not done well at all. It was more like a soup! Maybe I ordered the wrong dish :) overall, it didn't meet my expectation at all. Don't think I'll go back there.

A foodie has a birthday and so we must celebrate with lots of food, wine and good times. Everything was shared and it was plentiful. It started with some dips, then onto Haloumi, then Greek salad, Greek slaw salad, mussels, chicken, lamb and finally the 3 desserts! wow every dish was great and well presented! Staff were wonderful as they had to keep up with out big group plus other patrons inside. Overall, great first visit and i will endeavour to return!
Sarah Taylor
Amazing food, and great value for money. Absolutely loved every dish - the pork belly was the best I've had and the ocy and cheese was lovely. I'd recommend eating here while it lasts.
Andrew Lomas
Dropped in here after a meeting and chose the special of the day which was a chicken risotto with mushroom. This can be a risky option but whoa was I happy. The saffron stock was amazing and the rice perfectly cooked. Had a coffee and that was great too. Coming back soon and will make the trip especially.
Princess Greedy Guts
Such an awesome night celebrating one of the best foodies' birthdays! Love this little popup with so many delicious dishes to share in such a laid back neighbourhood environment!
Naomi Rheinberger
Prep your belly and come here ready to feast. You won't be disappointed with any of the dishes here, they are all really pleasant and perfect for sharing. As with all Greek restaurants, you have to order the haloumi, I could have sat there and ate it all night, it was divine.

The pork belly with lamb was one of my favourites and the dips with filo pqstry, it was a nice change from your standard breads.

Desserts were okay. If you're still hungry I recommend ordering some extra dishes to fill the hole rather than fill up on the desserts.
The Weekend Foodie
A great place to go to for a fantastic greek banquet dinner. Their lamb and pork baklava is a must!!! So tender and succulent. Id also recommend their haloumi with nectarine, an amazing combo that compliments each other so well that i would have never expected. I wasnt too big on their desserts, they were all warm :( i prefer cold desserts. The caramel and semolina was pretty good though.
Sweetandyummie
Unbelievable. Bossman Hesham is so attentive and is just amazing. David Tsirekas is just next level. Visiting on a Friday night - i was able to sample David's Hot meze nights menu and it did not disappoint one little bit. I highly recommend the Grandma's fries with the runny egg on top and the Beef short ribs.
Buxtonbaba
Avoid this place the coffee is weak the service is shocking. We went there on a Saturday took ages to get a coffee, then when we went to pay the owner argued with us that we had ordered another coffee! he was rude and trying to haggle over a $3.50 coffee. Disappointing as there are so many better cafes in Summer Hill.

Bianca: A quaint retro café banging out modern Middle Eastern inspired café dishes? Welcome to ‘Plunge No. 46’. An interesting menu is generally a sure-fire way to get me in the front door, especially when it pertains to breakfast/lunch. I just can’t possibly look at another avocado on toast dish or baked eggs. Zzzzzzzzzz.

Decided to venture to Summer Hill for a quiet Italian meal when I see a crackling beast on the spit outside Plunge no.46. Obviously I could walk no further and made a beeline for owner Hesham, who explained this was a pop-up venture by co-owner David, serving whole seasoned lamb on the spit with various vegetarian sides and a house dessert for $45pp.

The cafe usually serves breakfast and lunch with a Mediterranean influence and occasionally does Pop-ups at night during Spring/Summer when the boys want a change. Meats are usually lamb or goat with promises of pig to come.

Sides were considered and delightfully light which complemented the lamb beautifully. Highlights included rocket with sweet potato and fried corn kernels, watermelon with mint and pine nuts, and spinach pie. A large serving of lamb is also shaved straight from the carcass and paired with a warmed fluffy pita. Seconds are welcome if you're game.

Dessert was Greek Bougatsa, which is like a Galaktoboureko, with semolina custard in between layers of filo pastry. This variation had a hint of cinnamon and some blueberries. It was warm, oozy, sweet and just a perfect little parcel of goodness to end the night.

The owners are warm, friendly and know the locals well which was great to see. It made the whole night feel like a family affair and was loads of fun. After a long stressful week, this may just be your weekend cure.
Kis The Cook
Was lucky enough to dine at the Popup dinner at Plunge with David Tsirekas. Lamb on the spit Greek style with sides and dessert for great value $45. Unfortunately I don't eat lamb, but David and Hesham were very accommodating and made some chicken souvlaki for me. After travelling in Greece this summer it made me feel like I was back on the beaches of Santorini. The tarama was on point. Definitely worth a visit!

Great brunching food, nice decor, chill vibe. The fritters are sooo good and massive. Also you can drink wine at brunch! Win win. Pretty
good coffee too.

Summerhill is fronting well in the cool caf scene. If the cronut is the must have item to make it in the hip club then Plunge has it and the rest in spades. Cracking coffee - a strong jolt of cafination to be sure. Breakfast that hits all the high notes with eastern Mediterranean flair. The decor is designer minimalist cool and styled just right. Services is just as you want it. Wait staff with photographic memories and no order pads to be seen. Im here for the breaking of fast whenever I'm in Summerhill!
Nathalia
Nice decor, the service is very casual but attentive, the food is different from other cafes, they have a middle east touch !! the coffee was ok perhaps i will try one of their juice next time !

Went today for breakfast. This is the 2nd time I have been here but don't really remember the first. Coffee was good and so was the daily juice. The food we waited on for at least 25 minutes. In my book that is way too long. A friend ordered a chocolate milkshake since they were taking forever and they forgot it and he had to ask someone else for it. Owner was nice so that's the only reason why I'm not going all crazy on here. Food was "meh" nothing to write home about. Bland and lacked flavor for how expensive it was and such a small portion!

It feels like ages since I had brunch Sydney and quite frankly it felt good to not be travelling anywhere for a change. All this travelling for the both of us has made us exhausted and that we actually got to sleep in for the first time in a month! Since we woke up a little later than usual, we decided it was time for a change of scenery so we headed locally to Summer Hill in search for another cafe :wow: Plunge No 46 surrounds it self with wooden style art deco furniture with simple white walls and mini props. They have fantastic seating arrangements which is very spacious arrangements if you enjoy eating outside in the sun. Their menu is very different as it has a european flare which makes things interesting as there isn’t much to choose from within the street / Summer Hill itself. So if you want to go somewhere different for a change, pop around and try something new and simple with a great vibe. Zucchini & Fetta Fritters with tomato salad and a yoghurt base sauce – I actually hate zucchini but I decided to be daring in ordering it in hoping it would change my mind and it did Outside is golden and crunchy where zucchini meets korean fried chicken batter #fckingdelicious #hotnspicykfc. It was quite big I couldn’t even eat half of it so if you have a small appetite like me you can go halfies and share the fried goodness around. Roast Lamb Salad – Absolutely delicious, I love a good tasty protein salad. If i had a choice I would totally swap my fritters for this but only because this salad is packed with flavour and has a lot elements to it! Berry frappe - Plunge no. 46 offers a variey of beverages, this happens to be one of them Treat @ Pasticceria Papa If you’re in Summer Hill, why not kill two birds with one stone and head over the other side of Parramatta road to Pasticceria Papa (known as Papa’s) for some awesome baked ricotta cheesecake. The menu looked so good and having a sweet tooth that day, I had trouble choosing between the french toast with sour cherries and mascarpone or the buttermilk pancakes with seasonal fruits (nectarines and strawberries), cream and maple syrup. That problem was solved when I finally decided on the french toast but they didn’t have any left :( so I had to go with the pancakes. They pancakes were soft and fluffy, though I think I would of rather the french toast. I will be back for them. :D
Amy
I cannot fault the coffee; it is amazing. The food is also very good. I had the poached chicken salad ($20) which was divine, and tasted a lot better than it looks in the picture. It was overloaded with chicken that was cooked to perfection and the salad was frighteningly green. My gra

There's good coffee and then there's GREAT COFFEE! I drink a lot of coffee and I have to say that Plunge Cafe in Summer Hill probably serves one of the best coffees out there.
Corridor Kitchen
This had been on my wishlist for ages and I wasn't disappointed. Sitting on a street that real estate agents would describe as 'funky' and local council marketing would describe as 'a village', it's a nice place to sit and there's plenty of seating. The coffees here are beautiful and taste as good as they look. A bit steep at $3.50 but the milk is silky smooth and so is

This was a random find on a Saturday lunchtime and we were really happy with our discovery. To begin with, the coffee was good and beautifully presented. It is a really clever menu, with something to suit everyone. I found it hard to choose between the crab fritter special and the Moroccan spiced smoked salmon salad, but as most salmon is non-sustainable I went with the crab. It was a fantastic choice!
Iliketoeat
Not a fan since the change. We used to go here for a good, hearty brunch. You know, eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, etc. Now there is no such thing.
Their menu is trying too hard, and there is hardly anything on it, let alone anything that I would consider eating. We just stopped for a coffee one day and unfortunately it was burnt and bland (much like the customer service of their staff really).
Arual La Frangipanette
Used to be great. Now it's expensive, the service is indifferent and the new decor depressing.

Indifferent management, average food andoverpriced. Very average experience... We had the Shakshouka and the big breakfast, both of which were overpriced and unimpressive. I'm not one to leave another polarizing review, but this time it's warranted-
There is no mention of nuts in the shakshouka description, however it came out with dukkah all through it. One of us being allergic to all nuts asked the waiter to confirm that it did have nuts - he came back from the kitchen saying "nope, the kitchen said no nuts". There was lots of nuts in it. He went and checked again, and came back saying actually yes there are nuts. So we were offered another meal at a 'cheaper price' - this meant they were going to charge us for the shakshouka that would have brought on anaphylaxis and ALSO for the other meal! To be fair the manager did after agree not to charge for the first meal... but I mean come on, that's ridiculous. We both work in hospitality and have done for years and that is not how you look after customers, especially when there are allergies involved.
Big brekky was fine, not bad but nothing special. Definitely not worth $19.
We also both ended up with very queasy stomachs when we got home.
$45 in the end with a coffee each...

Been twice, won't be back. I've only been here twice, once to order pancakes... I must admit, they were good! So good I asked for a take away container... only to never see my food again...

second time, I ordered a coffee n. muffin... muffin was beautiful, till I got to the middle... it was completely raw...

Okay. Probably better than okay, quite good actually. Took a while to get my coffee but then it was worth the wait. And very pleasant sitting watching the world go by in Summer hill on a sunny day...

Good But Expensive. They serve a good coffee at Plunge, but it's expensive. The service isn't bad, although lacks the earthy friendliness of other cafes in the area such as Decolata or Espresso Train.
Drugstore Summer Hill
Had valentines dinner here and rate it highly. Standard of food was as good as anywhere I have ever had. Service was attentive without being over the top and place had atmosphere and prices were quite reasonable. The owners need to be commended on their passion in getting it right. Highly recommended.
PWizza
Service uninspiring, bordering on rude. Counter Staff more concerned about having a good time instead of their customers. Ordered breakfast, no butter provided. Scared to ask for any... Expensive for what was on the plate. Try hard, will not go back unagain...

Oh my goodness!!!. The most divine meal i have every had. Beef cheeks, gnocchi, hmmmm.
Then poached pears so tender!!!
I would so recommend is place.
Greta service, atmosphere and food.

Something different in Summer Hill. New owners new menu, great vibe. Plunge has emerged as a great venue for an interesting meal - nicely presented and with knowledgeable and attentive staff who weren't over the top. Decor is simple and cool, with a relaxed but slightly retro feel.
Dinner was the slow roasted lamb shoulder was delicious - perfect serving size and nicely presented. The whole snapper was cooked perfectly, although presentation was not exciting. Flavours well balanced and very pleasing.
Dessert was a vanilla milk jelly which was a triumph of textures for me and a bread and butter pud for my dining partner, flavour was great, but the texture was a bit on the heavy side and the rhubarb ice cream could have been a little more fruity.
The menu is seasonal ( a great thing!) and limited in size so that making a decision about what to eat was relatively easy. Wine list is short but a good selection.
Overall a really enjoyable meal in very pleasant surroundings.
Home made honeycomb with the bill was a sweet touch to a bill over around $50 per head - nothing to complain about there.
Lunch menu is also imaginative and highly recommended!

Summer Hill Gem. A little gem in Summer Hill. Warming winter meals superbly prepared with extra attention to detail. It was a cold night so we both chose the Beef Cheek, Gnocchi, Mushroom, Rocket with Pecorino. Just the ticket to warm the soul. Great combination of flavours and textures and a hearty serving for $24.00. The knowledgeable and likeable manager suggested an ideal match of a glass of pinot noir. For dessert ($11.00) my partner chose the interesting combination of fried custard, caramel, banana and pistachio semifreddo. An oozing slice of custard fried in panko crumbs and topped with slices of fresh banana, delicious house-made caramel sauce and a dollop of pistachio flavoured semifreddo. I was not disappointed with my choice of fig, apple and nut tart with mascarpone. A wicked fusion of fresh roasted nuts with figs, apples and caramel sauce on a wonderful hand-made pastry. Open Thursday Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 - a great escape for the seemingly endless stretch of pizza places that populate Lackey Street. We'll be back!

Awesome!. I'll have to try it a couple more times (just to be sure) but I'm thinking this might just be my new favourite inner city cafe. The mandarin/lychee juice was fantastic, the mains were delicious (the falafels were a highlight) and healthy, i love that there is spelt toast on the menu and their chai tea is AMAZING (though I wouldn't complain if they added some freshly grated ginger). The staff were attractive and friendly and the decor simple and pleasant. I loved glancing over at the kitchen from my table to see relaxed looking staff and a bunch of cookbooks sitting up on the bench - very homely. Great experience, looking forward to going again.

Love the Alchemy coffee, raw sugar and the amazing burger!

Sunday morning blues. Walked in around lunchtime on my lonesome to treat myself to a big breakfast. I sat down in a prominent position at the front of the cafe and still hadn't been served after ten minutes of waiting. I watched as the staff walked by me multiple times, taking no notice of me. A group of four arrived and was served immediately. Left not long after very unimpressed. Will not return.

Refreshing change!. This place has definitely changed since I last visited. The menu, quality of the food and service have improved significantly. The All Day breakfast menu includes a good list of interesting options as well as basics. The smashed egg, ham hock and sprouts on 2 slices of toast included well-creamed egg with ham that was not as tender or generous as it could have been but the contrasting sprouts worked well by adding a lightness to the otherwise heavy dish. The coffee was standard but overall it was good experience, especially as we got to sit out on the sidewalk in the sun.

-----17 Jul, 2011-----

Kitchen hick up. The coffee here is weak at best and lacks depth. We ordered 2 dishes from the menu and were informed after a 20 minute wait that there had been in a mix up in the kitchen and asked if we would like any soft drinks whilst we were waiting, which we declined. A further 10 minutes later the poached eggs with a side of haloumi and the poached chicken salad finally arrived. The poached eggs were served on 'toast' so dry it was virtually a cracker that was impossible to cut or chew. The haloumi was thick and pan-fried to a nice, brown colour. The poached chicken salad came with 2 poached eggs that added too much creaminess to the lemon and mustard mayo dressing that doused the cos lettuce. 1 poached egg or none would have been better but the roasted capsicum and almonds were lovely with the tender chicken which is what you would expect for $17. I won't be returning here.

PLUNGEd into despair. A favourite with the locals....but resting on your laurels aint good enough. Good coffee, and home blend chai latte,,,but a recent trip for brekkie left me disappointed. the eggs benedict were horrendously drowned in a thick gooey hollandaise sauce and the tomato relish was cold and tasteless. keep it simple, guys.

Tax on the organised!. Sunday brunch can sometimes be a frustrating experience when you arrive at your selected cafe only to find you have a long wait on your hands. Plunge is no exception.
After you've negotiated your way past the sweaty cyclists in the skin tight slick lycra, and the screaming kids in prams to the front counter only to find you have a 20 minute wait on your hands. (I did call ahead to book but bookings aren't accepted....grrrrr. It's tax on being organised-I swear.)
But onto the food: and it's food with an Egyptian influence, as evidenced by the duotone photos on the wall. I had the vegetarian breakfast with a side of eggs. It's a delicious combination of field mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, feta, flatbread and polenta. I must admit I found the polenta a little grainy-needed more of a stir during cooking I think. But a welcome variation from the usual frozen hash browns deep fried. Others in my party had the 'big brekkie' the antithesis of the vegetarian: bacon, sausages, and chipolatas-generous, generous serves. Delicious coffee was had by all, some with a 2nd round and it all ended up about $25 a head.

Lovely coffee, standard cafe fare. The best thing about Plunge Cafe is undoubtedly their coffee. Creamy, silky, strength just right. Matched with a decadent chocolate brownie and you're in heaven.

Menu offers standard cafe food with no real excitement bar the mixed mezze platter and mediterranean plate.
Plunge beef burger is satisfying and served with a generous side of thick, crispy beer battered chips.

Wait staff are rather unenthused and barely utter a word. When asked what was the daily rissotto/pasta special, rather than telling us, the waitress walked to the front of the counter, picked up the huge specials blackboard and held it in front of us. Rather odd. I would have thought it'd be easier just telling us it was an antipasto penne.

I'll definetly be returning for the coffee :)
