We took our team of 9 out for drinks and a bite to eat last night (Saturday) and had a great night. The food and service was good and the live music provided by a solo musian was great. A nice mix of songs for everyone and not too loud so that we could still have a good chat. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a lot of options for seating and dining. Although the space is big it is cleverly laid out with differently styled areas so that it still feels cozy. You can chill on a couch with your drinks or sit at a more formal table. Great area too, wonderful vibe and great place to meet a great mix of people.

Without a slither of doubt, they serve one of the best parmis in Sydney. The mushroom sauce is a game changer - a local favourite I’ve been frequenting for years.

I love the bourbon it has so much character and history ,you just have to go there and you can feel it...

Us baby boomers decided to take a trip down memory lane and visit the Bourbon Hotel as it was a frequent hangout for us in the 70's known then as the Bourbon & Beef Steak Bar! Not quite how we remember it but we had a very enjoyable and relaxing lunch. The food was excellent and the staff very professional and friendly.

Great venue, good food and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
We had a table for 9 people booked for 6pm, but our previous activity ran over. I called ahead to say that we were running late and was assured it wouldn't be a problem. We eventually arrived 45mins late, and they had held a table for us. The live music was great and we all had a great time, thanks!

My friend and I went here whilst on holidays in Sydney. Really great location, lovely venue set up and great atmosphere. We did however have an issue with some of the staff not taking an allergy seriously and responding in an unprofessional manner.
When ordering, we made it clear what the allergy was and asked for a substitute.
When the meal came out, staff confirmed the food met the requirements.
After a couple bites we asked a waitress to check with the chef that the ingredient was left out as it tasted otherwise. Waitress came back and confirmed they left off the item, however when we asked if another element contained the allergen, we were laughed off and left to it. Continuing to eat the meal we barely finished before feeling the reaction. All we would appreciate to happen next is chefs and staff to understand what potential allergens are and be informed when telling customers. Thanks!

Went to order a drink at 8.50pm and got told "sorry we are closing in ten minutes" okay no worries. I walked past at 1130 and they were still open. DOES THIS PLACE WANT TO MAKE MONEY OR NOT? So went up the road and had a good time instead.

Great atmosphere. I love the mid century decor. The have a fairly standard beer and wine menu but a good cocktail list. Happy hour between 5-7pm means you can get two cocktails for $25 buy they weren't doing the jugs when we visited. The bistro has some good bar snacks too.

This place is awful . I tried to order a beer and I wanted to switch it from Small to a larger beer , and the bartender (long black haired thin girl) said she couldn’t switch it unless she called the manager so I had to stick with a small one . (Mind you this was before she even poured the beer or ended the order ) She said if she switched it , the manager was going to say she was doing too many mistakes (even though it wasn’t her fault I changed my mind), and fire her like MANY other good workers in the past . just for the stupid Delete button on the screen (which they didn’t have)! This is unheard of. I’ve actually heard many rumors around town that this place is known for doing this to their workers. I’ve also heard from hard working , experienced bartenders that this place has this kind of shocking and unfamiliar tactic. They are an unfair, frugal bunch. The owners are incredibly cheap. And of top that, you notice they only hire Asian girls for god knows what! Authorities must look more into this place. The place wasn’t even great, and isn’t worth the money or time, staff is rude and owners as well. It’s a shame this place wasn’t burned in the recent fires of 2019.

The place is great, beautiful and comfortable. I have tried something simple, a chicken schnitzel, I thought who can fail a chicken schnitzel? But it was not too good. Very oiled and the flavour a bit disgusting, it seemed like they were frying different food in the same oil, fish maybe. Burger looked nice but I didn't try it. Friendly staff and great terrace at the front.

Less than expected the staff shortage was clear and the food is ordinary <br/>Nothing special except the decorations and atmosphere <br/>Tried 6 dishes all were ordinary

Vaguely New-Orleans themed pub at the north end of Darlinghurst Road, reassuringly close to the police station. Compared to many of the other venues on offer in this part of the world, The Bourbon is not actually a bad option – a decent fit out of light wood and comfortable seating ensures a steady flow of punters even during the day. <br/><br/>Tap beers include Blonde, Reschs, Carlton and Coopers and there is a reasonable cocktail list on offer as well. I didn’t eat on this occasion but the American themed menu is fairly priced with mains between $15 and $30. Worth a second look.

Bourbon best place in Kings cross, to be looked after with great service and staff. Amazing burger and salad! Best served while sipping a zesty Boulevard cocktail

Nice decor, busy place with friendly staff. Had a burger which was average at best - meat was dry and tasted like it had been cooked ages ago, however all it came with was good; good chips and bun with fresh lettuce. Would defiantly have drinks here again and would try food again due to other good ratings - seems like lunch would be a good shout. But overall I enjoyed to experience and don't regret going.

Great bar & restaurant with unbelievable lunch menu with huge portions for only $15 AUS :-) loved my Reuben sarmie & bartenders were super loveable.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
The Bourbon – which was known as “Bourbon and Beefsteak” is an icon in Kings Cross. Having walked past it a lot in recent times, you can see the magnificence of the building. What you see is reminiscent of old world class in a contemporary setting.

Just this Anzac Day my friends and I had the most below par meal I have ever experienced in a pub in Sydney. We chose the seafood platter hoping to eat well- which is $45 by the way - to share between three (the platter is arranged for two but we thought we'd eventually order something additional to this if it was good food and we were still hungry). <br/><br/>What a disappointment. Essentially you pay for $45 worth of chips, battered fish, some other type of octopus hidden amongst a bowl of salad, a dried up lobster, 4 king prawn heads(yes that's right just the shell of the prawns), three actual prawns and two oysters. We were so put off by our experience that we were not game enough to eat the oysters.<br/><br/>The platter appears amazing when it's first brought out to you. The joy ends there. It only takes 2 mins to realise that you've been served a dud of a meal. My friends and I could not get over the massive prawn heads - for which there is no consumption purpose whatsoever. It was rather a joke between us three. We couldn't believe they had been used to fill up half the platter, making it look decorative and colourful- and covering the measly portions of any decent seafood. <br/><br/>We were given a very dried up lobster. I'm not even sure there was any fresh lobster meat inside it to be honest, as my friend could barely touch it with her fork. It was likely spoiled lobster meat, or the insides and organs. We didn't bother trying to find out from the waitress whether it was actually lobster meat or lobster feces. It may have been lobster meat, but in the end the lobster had obviously been frozen, and it didn't look at all edible and was consequently not shared between us. <br/><br/>In the end we were so put off by the whole experience that we felt compelled to complain - albeit diplomatically - to the waitress clearing our plates. Whilst she listened sympathetically, we felt completely foolish and ripped off having already paid at the bar. There was little ownership of the badly cooked and served concoction we had just been given. Had she offered a drink, a bowl of chips or some food as compensation, it would have in some way made us feel better. This didn't happen, but it would have shown that she and the management of Bourbon actually cared about its customers and moreover its food.<br/><br/>My advice to anyone thinking of this place, would be to stay well clear of the seafood platter and further, to not expect great service if your meal is badly cooked. What we were served on Anzac Day was not even worth $30 let alone $45. We felt cheated of a nice lunch with friends. I doubt our feedback was relayed back to the chef. The chef appears to serve cheap and badly cooked ingredients over good seafood and fresh ingredients...So I would likely not eat here again, unless it was just to grab a quick beer and some hot 'waffle' chips. This was not a positive customer experience or an enjoyable dining experience.

The Bourbon is a Southern New Orleans style bar located in the heart of Potts Point on the infamous Darlinghurst Road. By day, it's a stylish place for lunch and a drink (or three) and by night it transforms into a gorgeous night time playground. The Bourbon's makeover is sleek and inviting, great for hosting parties or laid by drinks with mates.

This place is fantastic. Live music and amazing dishes! The atmosphere feels very 1950's and the crowd is a mixture of all age groups. Customer service is very attentive and the place is well staffed. The menu is diverse for suit all tastes. I highly recommend the seafood platter and the lobster roll!

The Bourbon is one of the best ways to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon with friends in Kings Cross. Drinks are affordable, service is friendly, and the food is much better than most of the local cafes and restaurants. And what's more, the portion sizes are huge!<br/><br/>I haven't been here at night in a couple of years, but they used to have some great live music on occasion.<br/><br/>It is a real shame how the lockouts have devastated the Sydney night life, let's hope they don't spell doom for this heritage establishment.

Great food!. Must order the bucket of prawns, very well spiced.<br/>The top cut of steak is a porterhouse, but cooked to perfection. That said they served both our steaks medium rare when one of us actually ordered medium-well

This place rocks! The cocktails here are amazingly good, staff were nice and polite with heaps of knowledge of the alcohol and food. Food it self was tasty and simple, few of the dessert was "ok" nothing great but i enoyed the meals.

Waste of time. After attending a party in nearby potts point for a 12 yr old where no alcohol was served I decided to drop into The Bourbon for a quick drink before retiring for the night at my nearby hotel. It was 11.20 pm , well before the curfew and I couldn't get in . I had an expensive calvin klein shirt, clean jeans and expensive leather shoes, had not been drinking so there should not have been an excuse for denying me entry. The place was half full, I could see plent of space inbetwen couples and smal groups. My only guess is I looked too jewish for the short palestinian looking doorman. This wouldn't bother me if I hadn't spent $200 during the afternoon on lunch entertaining a party of 4. Decided that from now on every time I visit , I will take my business and reunions to the rocks where my money is good day and night. The food was good but very overated and overpriced.

Open late with live music every night and doors open until 4am Fri-Sun The Bourbon appeals to many needs. Go to The Bourbon for a share style dinner and drinks during the week, grab a late night bite or simply sit at the bar and listen to some live music. Here are some of the dishes I tried. My favourites were the deep fried oysters and the chowder. I’m a sweet tooth so enjoyed all of the desserts. The Bourbon Hotel has been around since 1967, however it has just recently been redesigned. Inspired by New Orleans, it is sleek, stylish and a little bit fancy. Shrimp Jambalaya Jambalaya! French for ‘jumbled’ or ‘mixed up’, I have no doubt that the philosophy and heart of this dish come from a similar place to paella, and risotto. In keeping with true Creole tradition the dish is full of vibrant spicy flavours. Alaskan Crab Clusters If you visit the Bourbon, this is the signature dish you must get! Alskan crab clusters. 250grams of fresh, meaty crab goodness dripping in spiced butter. I was actually surprised at how much meat these tasty morsels contained. Heres a tip – order a side of bread to dip into the remainder of the spiced butter. So so g

Onto the mac and cheese. Now normally I just mention the side and if it was good or not but I’m making an exception for this dish. It was phenomenal. The Jamon and truffle were light but clear and definitely made the dish. It all just worked properly, the pasta cooked to perfection, the cheese completely creamy and the crumbs bring crunch. This, in my opinion is the best side I’ve had with a steak.

Will I go back? Yes but will order brunch dessert too. And will bring a few friends along, it's a great place for a group to catch-up.<br/>Things to try next time? Baked eggs with goat cheese and honey, twinkies.<br/>

The renovation is a major change from the room where I would play trivia and have a $10 steak. Cozy group tables in an intimate setting out the back, or a bustling dining room overseeing the streetscape in the front.<br/>

The Bourbon at Potts Point is a Southern New Orleans style bar, just a short 5 minute stroll from Kings Cross Station. Atmosphere The decor makes you feel as though you are in New Orleans sometime in the 60’s...The place has a cosy and intimate feel with dim lighting and dark colours. The night we visited there was live music on, which was quite entertaining....For drinks, there were a number of great value jugs for $30 and you could get a good few glasses out of them... James Metcalfe from Becasse is in charge of the delicious Diner-meets-pub food and the food is tasty and quite interesting. The menu features items such as...

For the month of October and good food month. A whole bunch of bar venues – 49 venues have joined in with a tapas and TanquerayGin cocktail for $20. We get chaffeured around town by Prestige Chaffeurs and Tonight, We Tanquerayed. Invited do by Leo Burnett and Tanqueray; Thanks for the good times guys. Lets see how we barhopped. Sean from Prestige Chaffeurs at our first stop – The Star Sydney. We’re here for Black by Ezard and also Cherry Bar. Marco Oscar Giron (@marcooscargiron on instagram) the bar manager at Black by Ezard makes some mean cocktails and does them with flair. Sling and Wing Deal. $20 We ended up with a light fruity cocktail that had Tanqueray gin, a nice trio of hotwings and an aerated blue cheese mousse. Cherry Bar is located inside the casino. The Cherry Bar – barhop offer is prawns and a echo friendly cocktail. Delicious duo of prawns with the Echo Friendly cocktail which was sweet and presented in ice. Sun’s set and we’re off to #bar3. Sean’s here. Star Bar located along George street is doing a Tanqueray Songbird and Wild Mushroom, Aranchini Balls Tanqueray Songbird and Wild Mushroom, Aranchini Balls – quite nice. Easy drinking cocktails and a nice pipping hot aranchinis. Barhop: Bar 4 is a Rendezvous bar and this joint had the strongest cocktail and the most wowee tapas eats. Porkbelly and grilled octopus and a gin gin negroni. That’s a surprisingly big plate of food. Pork Belly has us grinning Barhop Venue 5 was The Bourbon. Sean’s here to take us home. Prestige Chaffeurs did make us feel like VIPs – the service was premium and fantastic. The barhop offer of $20 with a Tapas/Eat and a Tanqueray Gin cocktail is great value – and makes it an easy recommendation for the month if you’re a barhop

The menu represents New Orleans flavours with a modern twist. If you aren't careful your meal could easily blow your calorie count for the day as lots of the dishes are fried or coated in gorgeous butter! Of course you don't want to miss out on this goodness altogether so you just have to choose wisely! JJ and I started with 250g of the 'Grilled Alaskan Crab Clusters' with lightly spiced butter. Wow, the crab was deliciously creamy, meaty and succulent which, when combined with the butter were scrumptious yet quite rich.
Missklicious
The menu consists of some familiar sounding southern favourites, albeit with a more refined twist.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
As Sydney celebrated Mardi Gras I had my own Fat Tuesday at this revamped beauty. It’s big, fat, loud food for big, fat, loud people, underpinned by solid French technique, courtesy of ten-year Becasse stalwart James Metcalfe. Get messy (perhaps revisiting some of your earlier memories in this iconic spot) with butter-drenched Grilled Alaskan Crab Clusters ($19/250g) or Jumbo Shrimp ($24) in Creole butter so tasty, you’ll damn your arteries and demand Warm Bread ($3)...
Food Booze Shoes
With a more relaxed menu and approach than a year ago, The Bourbon's decor and daily food and drinks specials, including a half-price late night menu, offer an inviting scene for those after a quick burger, a bite with few cocktails or a more substantial meal from the New Orleans/NOLA-inspired menu.
Food Booze Shoes
While there are ambitious plans for the neighbouring club, basement bar, and a rooftop bar and restaurant, for now it's all about having fun with modern twists to New Orleans cuisine - of which I have limited experience although the city is in my top two list for US destinations I want to visit. We started on a platter of Pacific and Sydney rock oysters in three different styles. Although I wished it were my pref

Great breakfast. The baked beans in the bernies breakfast were almost worth it alone.

So small for price. Had 3 dishes between us and the size of the meals was incredibly small especially as for pub grub it is expensive

Pretentious staff at the bar!<br/>You pay double the price for drinks, but no service or speed of service at the bar to justify it, .. the counter staff think they are doing you a favor by serving you, some of them feel that they are above the job, I wonder why they were hired to serve at the bar.<br/>As a hospitality professional, I will give this place 2 stars, based on atmosphere and new design/sitting area.

One of the best bars!. Came here with a few mates after drama class and this is probably one of the classiest bars in kings cross. Good atmosphere, combined with wonderful food and drinks, as well as great service, all contributed in making the night memorable.
Vino For Pino
I've eaten here a number of times late at night now.<br/>Food has been good everytime and they probably have one of the best american style cheeseburgers in sydney.<br/>Staff are great, wine could be improved and the security can be a douche at times, but overall a decent place to hang out in the cross with a much more civilized crowd.<br/>Shame about the lockout though as they tend to close earlier now. Understandable.

Poor performace. New decor and outside seating area looks really cool and definately got our attention as we walked in for a drink and dinner. Staff behind the bar were very helpfull and polite. Food a massive disappointment! We ordered chicken nibbles with blue cheese mayo, scotch fillet and scallops. We paid $60 for the worst dinner ever, I love food and heartily eat everything but this was the first time I was BORED while I are. We had a feeling the food wasn't prepared by a chef it was that bad, presentation clumsier than my partners who rarely ventures to the kitchen. For that money we expected a lot more, but honestly I've had better $7 meals back in the day in omalleys, than what the food was at the Bourbon that night. Very very disappointed, waste of money.

Murdoch. After reading the reviews on Urbanspoon, we made our way to The Bourbon.<br/>Based on previous reviews, I was expecting a Creole / Deep South theme, however with the exception of creole mayo on one of their burgers, that's about it.<br/>Great place, nice atmosphere, but could maybe do with a slightly more elaborate menu.

More bar than restaraunt? Yes, but in a very stylish way. We went there after many years away. I had walked past and liked what they had done to the old place, but never stopped. Looking for something a little upbeat, but unsure after reading the reviews, we first just pulled up a bar stool and has a drink whilst listening to a solo artist who was making a wonderful job of singing a repertoire that well predates his youth. After a quick peruse of the menu and a few minutes soaking up the relaxed ambience, we grabbed a table and settled in for dinner. It was a culinary delight. The Creole quisine was delightful and the service impeccable. The Burbon is now one of my favourite Sydney restaraunt / bars and I can't wait to bring friends back for a visit.

Really tasty food. This place is great. The staff are lovely and very helpful, they have table service, indoor and outdoor seating, live music, and awesome decor. There is a large selection of cocktails and drinks. The food is my favourite, especially the beef brisket, it literally melts in your mouth. Also the patrons tend to be on the more civilised side, which is a nice change. A little pricey but well worth it!

More bar than restaurant. I was intrigued by the american creole menu here, especially one that has a slight fancy twist to what you'd usually associate american food with. The fit out of this place is beautiful, and yet the bourbon seems more like a busy bar than a restaurant to me. We came in for desserts and tried some of their savoury dishes, with live jazz music which can be appropriate if your out drinking, but for a group of 4 looking to have a proper date, the atmosphere and noise levels can be slightly overwhelming. We tried the mac and cheese which came in a cute cast iron pot, it was appropriately cheesy and runny but somehow still slightly bland and needed a bit of a kick somehow, the oysters with the cucumber salsa weren't too bad and though i found the salsa refreshing, it still felt lacking in the taste department. I say skip the banofee pie which is merely a thin case tart filled with dulce de leche and go straight for their smores dessert, a winning combination of graham crackers, marshmallow, chocolate sauce and perfect to share.

Crap us all I can say entree came really fast. After waiting for more than 1 hour fir our main we walked out. Cost $100 for 2 wines 2 beers 5 whisky's won't be going back!

Pork scratchings!. They are going for a rich and decandent New Orleans style food and decor and it really works. Jambalaya, gumbo all delicious. Some really nice seafood too - shrimp, crab, lobster, oysters... Yum. And its still a bar so they do great cocktails and have live music on weekends. $5 coopers on weekdays too!

Great place for dinner. I dont get the unhappy comments previous, the new Bourbon ROCKS. We went last night for dinner, the venue is way cool, the menu a great selection and very reasonable prices. The food is very tasty, we had the crab , prawns and the jambaylaya & scotch fillet. The bill was cheap as we were both full to the brim! OMG the bread & butter is a must as well we had 2 rounds!, cant wait to go back, thanks you Bourbon

If you want your steak cook as you ordered .. Don't go here

Disappointed. My wife and i went there for lunch today (Saturday). The place has the atmosphere of an average hotel breakfast area with loud music, bright lights and cheap furniture. The food is mediocre and priced well above its quality. Avoid.

Simon Food Favourites review. Visited 6 June for a late night snack and drink with friends. Enjoyed the live free music and ordered some Pambula Rock Oysters ($3.50 each) and Coffin Bay Pacific Oysters with cucumber, chilli, white balsamic vinaigrette ($4 each). Shucked to order with decent amount of brine.

Great atmosphere and music! Love the new look, staff were friendly and helpful. Quite loud for a dinner but otherwise great

Great lunch. Clam chowder and jambalaya were just absolutely delicious. Good service. Great decor and atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Will be back. Love that it's open for lunch on weekends.

Yum absolutely delicious, have the Alaskan crab claws and the beef rib to die for. Service is a bit green but the food is worth it!

Something different.. I have been wanting to try New Orleans style food for years and was so excited when I discovered The Bourbon. The decor of the place is exquisite and the staff are very friendly. The gumbo was amazing, very flavoursome. I also enjoyed the truffle chips. Next time I look forward to trying the desserts
Ellalizzle
Amazing flavours in the gumbo and jambalaya. So full of flavour. Also had oysters that were deep fried to perfection, anchovies and half lobster with the best fries (not the hand cut chips). The dishes of the night were definitely the jambalaya, gumbo and oysters. And lobster. Okay everything. Great value for money too. Awesome cocktails. Not only best fit out and interior. The fountain that is a sink in the bathroom was pretty cool. Amazing service too. Can't wait to come back!

Monday madness!. We went to the Bourbon last Monday, how cool is it!? The fit out was amazing, live music, great drinks but the food is so yummy and good value, we had the oysters, beef rib & roast pork followed by an amazing sweet tasing thingy, i love the new bourbon and ill be back every week for sure. Good times.

Very Disappointed. Spent $150 for 2 people, food and wine average at best. Service also very poor. For that money better off walking down Macleay st to The Apollo. Far superior dining experience.

Welcome back to The Bourbon. Fantastic night out and a delicious and satisifying meal. Creole style menu is a great change from everything else I'm eating in Sydney and the Alaskan Crab Clusters are something that every table at The Bourbon should order - delish.
